Whitesands & Porthmelgan Wedding

Jude and Jodie had already legally married in Canada, where they were living, but for their Welsh celebration they decided to bring their friends and family to Pembrokeshire for something a Pembrokeshire Beach Wedding. They stayed together in an Airbnb just outside Fishguard before heading towards St Davids for an afternoon on the coast, with no wedding venue, no elaborate set up and really not much needed beyond the people they loved and a couple of bloody beautiful beaches.

We started at Whitesands for their photos together and it was one of those wonderfully moody Pembrokeshire days. It was windy and completely overcast, but the light was incredibly soft and the whole beach had this quiet, atmospheric feeling that worked beautifully for photographs. I love photographing weddings in weather like this because you stop looking for perfect light and just work with whatever the coast is doing.

A ceremony on Porthmelgan Beach

From Whitesands we headed around the coast to Porthmelgan, where their friends and family joined them for the ceremony on the beach. Having already done the legal part in France meant this could simply be about the two of them celebrating their marriage with everyone they loved, in a place that felt special, without needing a traditional wedding venue around them.

A wonderfully simple Welsh beach wedding

The whole afternoon was just an absolute pleasure to photograph. Their friends were really helpful and so happy, everyone embraced the wind and the weather, and nothing felt overcomplicated or overly organised. It was two lovely women, their favourite people and a beach in Pembrokeshire, which turns out is pretty much all you need for a bloody lovely wedding.
